I made it out to the Saturday blowout, but watched the Sunday game from the confines of ScalpEm.com headquarters. Tallahassee provides some of the most pleasant baseball weather youll find anywhere in the country, especially this time of the year. That will probably last about another -3 weeks and then itll be hazy, hot and humid until November. Weather aside, the Noles are 15-1 and playing some really solid, winning, baseball. Its hard to argue with winning, just as Charlie Sheen.

Saturday Thoughts:

• So much for those .5 hour games. Thanks to the batting practice show that the Noles put on, the game was lengthy.
• Fifteen runs when its not gorillaball is much more interesting to me than when theyre all dingers.
• Busch is the definition of lumbering out there.

Cals first conference road win of the season and first conference road win in two years over a team not named Washington State improved the Bears bowl options, although were a long way from clarity.

The questions:

Will Washington win the Apple Cup?

With a victory, the Huskies would probably be ahead of Cal in the pecking order: Theyd have a better conference record by one game and the head-to-head victory.

(Note: The bowls dont have to take teams in order of conference finish, but they cannot jump one over another if the difference is more than one game in the standings.)

How many teams will the Pac-12 send to the Bowl Championship Series? Theres a scenario in which the conference only gets one berth and it goes to UCLA.

Will UCLA be bowl-eligible?

(At 6-5, the Bruins have clinched the Souths spot in the conference title game.

Yesterday we covered the first half of this home-and-home series here and were able to escape with the shootout win by the Kings. Now the setting flips as the teams drive over to Anaheim to play on the pond where the Ducks would like to get the split. Anaheim looked very strong in the 3rd period and overtime yesterday and will need to have an effort like that for the full 60 minutes tonight if they want to get the W. They are still underdogs (though not at big as last night) and would like to get back to the dominance they had over the Kings a season ago.

This is one of those games where recent trends dont mean much because both met less than 24 hours ago and they just want to go out there and prove they are the better team.
