Arizona State, despite a disappointing ending to the 2010 season, has the goods to make up for lackluster 6-6 record overall and 4-5 record in conference play.

Dennis Erickson 6-6 (4-5)

Although a loss is still as loss, the Devils have to take some solace in that four of their losses were by four points or less. Something the team can build on.

Now with 15 returning starters in the lineup, including the best linebacker in the country Vontaze Burfict, ASU coach Dennis Erickson better get the job done this year, or he may need to file for unemployment in 2012.

Pujols has had a rough year so far, and a broken wrist certainly didnt make things any easier.  He returned quickly from the injury, however.  He did go just 1 of 6 Wednesday, but the MVP cant continue to struggle like this if the Cardinals are going to be true contenders this year.  He returned nearly a month ahead of schedule from the injury, but the Cardinals lost 9-8 to the Reds on a Ramón Hernandez RBI double in the 13th inning.

The weights for the heritage handicap were announced on Wednesday, putting the son of Langfuhr on 9st 6lb, 4lb off top-weight Dance And Dance.

The Rectifier is as short as 16-1 with the sponsors, but can be backed at 25-1 elsewhere and Boyle is hoping for a decent show.

Both San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants have taker batting up a notch this week as the three games so far have gone for 8, 8 and 11 runs. Third Baseman Pablo Sandoval has hit most of the Giants runs this week. In the last seven days he has hit three home runs and had twelve hits from thirty-four at bats. Chase Headley of the Padres has been hitting well and is averaging .375 over seven days. I like the look of over 6.5 runs for this game. At the start of the series under would have been the call but both sides are hitting and scoring well. Both pitchers don’t inspire massive confidence either.

Our great start to July has continued with a further 3 succesful lays since Monday. LOVE NEST at Brighton on Monday (BSP 4.9) and EFISTROM and THIS ONES FOR EDDY on Tuesday brought our current run to 8 connsecutive lays.
