GOODWOOD clerk of the course Seamus Buckley predicted on Tuesday there would be no change to the going overnight after the Glorious meeting opened on good ground.
A shower on Tuesday morning which delivered just over 1mm of rain was one of the few weather interruptions Buckley is expecting throughout the five days of the meeting.
“I’ve been delighted with the way the course has stood up today and have had nothing but praise from trainers and jockeys,” he said. “The groundstaff have done a fantastic job producing such wonderful ground.
“It raced just slightly on the slower side of good after we had 1.5mm this morning. It made it race that little bit easier but I think we will be back on really good ground again tomorrow.”
The running rail from the 6f marker on the lower bend to the winning post has been dolled out approximately five yards, increasing distances by 12 yards, and the top bend is out three yards increasing distances by five yards, and will remain in place for the next two days.
“I am not doing any rail changing until tomorrow night,” Buckley added. “Weatherwise there might be a little bit uncertainty about what happens on Thursday night but it’s meant to be dry up to then.”
